Metadata not saved

New version, settings not working.
Metadata not saved.

You want to add a star rating to a jpg picture ? or another type ?
Tools>Setting>Metadata>Export rating to xmp is enabled ?
Then, you select the picture (browser mode or view mode ?), set rating, and deselect picture...
When you select this picture again in the browser, in Information area, XMP Tab, there is no rating ?

Did you try on other pictures, in other folders ?
Do you have a good knowledge of Windows? ( locked files ? special characters in paths ? difficulties with network drives ?)
Did you enable xmp companion files ?
What about other metadata ? (Tools,Metadata, Edit xmp... )

You can perhaps try a new xnview.ini file...
(Stop xnviewmp, move the current one, Xnviewmp will create a new xnview.ini) set again export option etc...
If it's not better, put the old one back in place.

I tried on a new installation, metadata are ok for me...

Metadata not saved with .webp.
Is there any way to get metadata saved with webp images, please?

Recently noticed Adobe .DNG files were not being updated with XnView MP\Metadata\Edit XMP. Found that 'Tools\Settings\Metadata\Sidecar\Create or update XMP Sidecar' was not checked. Checked and seems to work now.
