Transparency in AVIF

Post by faisal0997 »

Hey I'm trying to convert some PNG images with transparency into AVIF for the web but it seems XnConvert doesn't support transparency for AVIF's or am i missing some setting somewhere to allow this? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated thank you!

Hey Pierre thank you for responding! I know that AVIF supports alpha channel transparency but my image always comes out with a black background, I can however go into actions and extract the alpha channel of the image so i believe its there? Perhaps i'm still overlooking something so any further help would be appreciated!

Any updates to this?

I have 3 AVIF's with transparency but when I export as PNG, the transparent areas turn black?

Images are in this zip file: https://a.dropoverapp.com/cloud/downloa ... 455c78aae4.

Thanks
Neil

I just tested your images and transparency is recognized and kept when converting to PNG with the latest version (1.112.0). Maybe you are on an older version of the program? If not, please describe your scenario, or provide screenshots of "Actions" and "Output" tabs.

Yeh, I'm in MacOS. Latest app version, latest OS version. MacBook Pro M1 Pro.

Here's my resultant image.

Very weird.

I've tried a bunch of things and no change. Always a black background.

I tried disabling the resize action. No change.

On the Settings tab, there is "Preview background colour" is this to do with it?
