Hi, Is there some way to extract previews from the DB? My thumb.db in XNviewMP is 11GB.
I've been using XnViewMP for years and I'm satisfied. Now I have lost all the data on the external drive due to my mistake. Mac APFS encrypted volume accidentally formatted instead of a memory card. Unfortunately, the change to FAT and the secure format, together with encryption, ensured that data recovery no longer exists. I had projects, graphics and a family photo. Some previews would be a saving grace, despite the low resolution.

Pierre is the (sole) developer of XnView. Hopefully he can give you step-by-step instructions. But he probably won't reply before Monday. In the meantime, I'll try to find answers.
Do not start XnView MP before you've made a backup of its database.

- Where does XnView MP store its setting files on a Mac?
- XnViewMP Setup on Mac
- Export thumbnails or file path
- XnView w/High Sierra on a Mac
- How are thumbnails stored and accessed?
- XnView Multi Platform places thumbnail cache in config directory instead of cache directory
- Extract thumbnail from catalog.

Re: Last resort - Extract thumbnails from DB
Thank you very much for your effort. Yes, I looked up most of these threads on the forum. I also backed up the DB files so as not to affect them in any way. I regularly back up the entire XnViewMP configuration for years. I love the compatibility when I moved from Windows to Mac and I was able to move settings and export presets and stuff.
Unfortunately, I still can't get to previews despite the programs mentioned in other threads.
Thank you very much, I will wait for further instructions from the creator. Thank you for your time, you are great

Thanks for the effort, I've tried following the links but still can't get the previews.
Re: Last resort - Extract thumbnails from DB
there is no direct way to extract thumbnails from catalog, if you send me the .db, i can perhaps extract all
Pierre.

Hi Pierre,
I'm sorry for the trouble, but may I ask you for the same favor, or an overview of how I could do this myself?
Thank you very much for your help!
