Video files won't play in Full Screen viewer

Post by stevemd »

All my video files (.mov) play fine in Slideshow mode. And smaller video files (say 10MB) play in full screen viewer mode. However, larger video files (30 MB and 50MB) won't play in full screen viewer mode.

thanks

I just tested some 600Mb+ porn videos and had no problems in fullscreen. Can you post the fullscreen options you have set in XnView here.
AMD Ryzen 3 3300X 3.8Ghz, 16Gb DDR4, RX6600XT with Dell U2520D at 2560x1440@60Hz scaling 125%

I have
checked - Enable navigation with rgt and left mouse button
checked - Hide scrolbar
checked - hide play bar

auto image size - fit image to window, large only

unchecked - dual monitor stretch
check - dual monitor, use second monitor
check - use delayed high qual...
uncheck - show inform

If I uncheck everything - still doesn't play

The same videos play fine on version 1.80.3 (though the R-L mouse nav doesn't work on that version; mouse nav seems fixed on the beta version however)

the videos are .mov, 640x480 30fps

thanks

Some additional info I just found on the non-playing videos...
If I switch from browser > viewer > fullscreen, the videos will play (using ENTER as switch mode option)
The failure is when I go from browser > fullscreen (via the double click setting to switch modes)

So it seems going thru the viewer works, but not going directly from browser to full screen.
Again, it all works fine on 1.80.3

Ok, I can confirm your bug with large MOV files when XnView's "Use double-click to switch between:" is set to "Browser <> Fullscreen | Viewer <> Fullscreen"

Also, make sure you have Apple QuickTime 7.0.3 installed.

Strange i have not changed video playing on beta 1. Do you have the problem with avi too?

Yes - it appears the exact same problem occurs with avi.
They play fine in 1.80.3,
In the beta, they play fine in the slideshow mode, and play fine if I go from browser > viewer>fullscreen, but they won't play going from browser>fullscreen.
Strange

also, for what it's worth, the larger videos (MOV, AVI) won't play in the preview screen either. Funny how smaller MOV files play (say 5MB) but not larger ones (say 30MB).

Please check 'max file size' in option/Browser/File displayed?
Pierre.

Pierre

I just tried beta 2 and the problem is fixed in beta 2! (I can still reproduce the problem in beta 1). In beta 2, 140MB avi and 30MB MOV files now play fine in preview and in browser>fullscreen.
FYI - i had the same default settings for max file size in version 1.80.3, beta1 and beta2 - I'm sure of this because I just copy the .ini file to the new folder for the new version
strange
