Yes, it happens always. Every single time after exiting video.

Video don't even need to be played. Simply opening video in new tab, and then closing the tab causes the crash always on my laptop.

I provided much details as I can, so I firmly believe that the issue would be easily fixed in near future.

It's really crazy issue. I have to use Acer Clear.fi 1.0 for playing videos only because the XnView MP can't handle them with AMD driver installed. I can't even uninstall AMD Radeon Software from my laptop because it would cause multiple consequences.

Correct, if video files are displayed inside folder in browser, no crash. It applies only to viewer, not browser.

XnView MP 1.9.2, Windows 11 Home 24H2

It's also crashing for me after exiting the video viewer. I've not narrowed it down to a specific DLL, but here's what happens:
  1. Double-click to open video in a new tab
  2. Optional: Click the arrow button to play the video (crash subsequently occurs whether or not the video is played)
  3. Close the video tab
  4. There's a brief background-busy mouse pointer
  5. XnView MP crashes
I watched the process in Task Manager doesn't and it doesn't look unusual. No excessive CPU, GPU nor memory usage, etc.

Here's a 30 second sample MP4 (from my outdoor wildlife camera) if you want to download and test with it: https://imgur.com/gVIkslT
This is a full-res version of the video, but either causes the crash: https://i.imgur.com/gVIkslT.mp4

I've tried your sample but no crash. Do you have sent the crashlog with crash dialog?
Pierre.

There is no crash dialog. It just gives me a background busy pointer for maybe three seconds and *poof*, it's gone -- vanishes with no further info. Is there a log somewhere you need? I tried attaching my xnview.ini but there's apparently no way to attach a text file so I'll PM it to you.

Crashes usually automatically create .dmp (Crash dump) files on Windows.

To find them:
1. Open My Computer folder in Windows Explorer (also called Computer or This Computer on different Windows versions)
2. Type ".dmp" into search box (type without quotes, not into the address box, but into search box)
3. Now you will see all .dmp files, but attach only those from XnView MP

There is also faster way to find specific files, but that requires third-party software like Everything (by voidtools)

The crash probably happens only on specific hardware. Can you try to reproduce it on different computer or virtual machine?

I use Windows 7 on Acer Aspire E5-523 and I have installed AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 22.6.1 [https://www.amd.com/en/resources/suppor ... -WIN7.html]

The crash is related to OpenGL library as I mentioned earlier. Maybe disabling Hardware acceleration in XnView MP would prevent the crash, but there is no such setting (not in XnView MP app settings nor xnview.ini).

I believe, that every detail helps, so here are more details about my AMD Radeon Software:

Software Version - 2022.0802.1058.19750
Driver Version - 21.09.13.02-220802a-382933C-RadeonSoftware
Provider - Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
2D Driver Version - 8.1.1.1634
Direct3D® Version - 9.14.10.01494
OpenGL® Version - 29.20.11000.14830
AMD Audio Driver Version - 7.12.0.7736
Vulkan™ Driver Version - 2.0.179
Vulkan™ API Version - 1.2.170
Windows Version - Windows 7 (Service Pack 1) (64 bit)

Those are the minidumps -- C:\Windows\minidump\*.dmp. But it's not creating one, nor a full size C:\Windows\memory.dmp. It just vanishes. I was hoping my XnView MP wrote its own log.

However, I have AMD CPU / GPU as well with Radeon graphics.

AMD is known for its shitty drivers/software.

the first results for "atio6axx.dll crash" from google:
- update Adrenalin to the most recent version (25.6.1) OR
- uninstall Adrenalin completely and install driver directly by hand
