Delete does not delete (windows)

Post by getho »

I've seen delete issues in relation to linux and usb files, but not this:

Delete (either with key or context menu delete) will delete some files in a folder, but above a certain number (or total file size?) it looks like they're deleted but if you return to the folder they have not been. screen cap here:

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/0unkr83v ... srw6s&dl=0
v1.9.5 oct 12

Deleting the containing folder also fails (so its probably a size, not a number of files issue?)

This is a major bummer as I've just started using xn view as my perfect tool for assessing which video files to keep. Fortunately, I found this bug before spending any more than an hour or so that I'll have to re-do.

Edit: turning off "use recycle bin" helped, but there was one file that would not delete. I tried to delete it from explorer and it said it was open in xnview. I tried deleting the whole folder in xn view and it let me, except it hadn't deleted it, it was still there in explorer. F5 made it re-appear in the folder tree in xnview

yes win 11, no: any folder
I moved to using fastone image viewer which worked fine, but i would rather use xnview: faster and nicer interface!

In version 1.9.5, deleting a subfolder from the folders panel doesn’t immediately remove it from view. The subfolder only disappears after exiting and restarting XnView. This suggests a possible communication or refresh issue between the app and the operating system.

In XnView (Win11), when i delete a folder from folder panel, the folder is removed from thumbnail view too. You have not that?
