OS: Windows 10 v22H2 x64
This is an old bug. (I've always wanted to report it, but I forgot. Nevertheless, it's reproducible in many past versions.)
Like most good file managers, XnView MP allows quick navigations to files folders via keyboard. Pressing a letter on the keyboard sends the cursor to the first file or folder that starts with that letter. Better yet, quickly typing a name sends the cursor to the file or folder that starts with that name.
XnView MP, however, has a bug: It ignores the M key. Quickly finding a file or folder that starts with M is not possible via keyboard.
To reproduce:
Important: While carrying out the following steps, please allow one second time to pass between each step. (One second is so short that you probably don't have to do anything.) I can write a report without the one-second delay mandate, but it would become a complicated report.
- Open XnView MP, preferably without admin privileges.
- Ensure that your filter settings allow you to see all files and folders. (You can reproduce the bug without this step, but it's easier this way.)
- Navigate to C:\Windows. (You could do it in any other folder, but Windows is the one folder you definitely have.)
- Sort the folder by name.
- Set the folder view to "List". This will speed things up.
- Press C. Observe that the selection cursor jumps to "CbsTemp" (or something that begins with C).
- Press D. Observe that the selection cursor jumps to "debug" (or something that begins with D).
- Press E. Observe that the selection cursor jumps to "ELAMBKUP" (or something that begins with E).
- Press M.
Expected behaviour: The selection cursor must jump to "Media" (or something that begins with M).
