Will there be a Linux beta as well, or are you starting with Windows first?

Thank you for the open beta test of QT6 powered XnViewMP. The window performance is impressive fast. I hope to see a build with QT6 in the near future.

Re: XnView MP (Windows) 1.11.4 beta 2 for Qt6
I believe that the Qt6 test version is no more than a test port of the present Qt5 version in order to identify any issues that arise from the port?

This is very strange change , whitch lost compatibility with old systems , whitch do bigger size , and in whitch does not matter improvements , from 2024 year I trying do better JPEG reading , but
all we have , this not completed blue-noise , because this method available , but absemt in variant of dithering for JPEG , and now we losting compatibility and recive bigger size with exactly the same functions
was the size 110,6 megabytes
became the size 278,7 megabytes
I'm convinced what this very stupid solution +178,1 megabytest for as all be beforre , what for this ?

Re: XnView MP (Windows) 1.11.4 beta 2 for Qt6
Yes , and also I sayd about what you not want finalize version on QT5 , I wrote many times about JPEG dithering , about JPEG DCT , and I asked you do finalize this problem s , I asked add blue noise in list JPEG dithering and remove from list ordered and Floyd-Steinberg whitch not work and identical as if absent dithering here viewtopic.php?t=50670 , I asked add and finalize reading via customizable DCT settings just like this maked in mode export to JPEG Li here viewtopic.php?t=50702 , by the way , you can do this if do transcode from classic JPEG to JPEG Li on fly with maximum quality for showed in RAM , but in last beta version whitch I can test 1.11.4 on QT5 , nothing from this not was be maked , and at the same time you trying make version on QT6 with losting compatibility , and bigger distributive and folder size. I really can not understand what for so work... You can finalize QT5 version with maximum improvements , but you selected leave QT5 version with low quality JPEG reading without possibility customize method reading and achieving the required quality , but no , you will make next version I'm very upset about this attitude towards users
Please understand so what you do now , this as do move from city to city leaving in old city partial of cabinets , partial of the bed , partial of clothing
I think what before do migrate to nev platfrom , need ending and closing previous shortcomings and comments
What I offer now do ?
I offer finalize all shortcomings and comments and release a version for example XnViewMP 1.11.5 and on based this result XnConvert for example 1.111.5 whitch will be based on qt5 , and after this do start developing on qt 6

Re: XnView MP (Windows) 1.11.4 beta 2 for Qt6
Excusme please , but nonsense now wrrite not I
you can seeng this viewtopic.php?t=50670 , you can do retesting as I discritpting in theme , and you can seeng result if do compare every method in Total Commander , then you see what none , ordered , floyd-steinberg - identical , in xnview.ini this will writing as :
JPEGDithering=0 - none
JPEGDithering=1 - ordered
JPEGDithering=2 - floyd-steinberg
JPEGDithering=3 - blue noise
and :
JPEGDCT=0 - Integer
JPEGDCT=1 - Fast Integer
JPEGDCT=2 - Float-point
so here , if you think what I wrote nonsense , you must prooff me what you right , if I not recive proof , I will think what you're lying.
Test need do so :
01) open file xnviw.ini
02) find lines JPEGDithering
03) set value JPEGDithering=0
04) save result to 0.bmp
05) close XnViewMP
06) open file xnviw.ini
07) find lines JPEGDithering
08) set value JPEGDithering=1
09) save resutl to next 1.bmp
10) close XnViewMP
11) open file xnviw.ini
12) find lines JPEGDithering
13) set value JPEGDithering=2
14) save result to 2.bmp
15) close XnViewMP
16) open file xnviw.ini
17) find lines JPEGDithering
18) set value JPEGDithering=3
19) save result to 3.bmp
20) close XnViewMP
with this NOT MODIFY JPEGDCT , I mean what if you select JPEGDCT=0 , so all test with modify values in JPEGDithering do ONLY with JPEGDCT=0 , next you can modify value JPEGDCT for example to JPEGDCT=2 and again retry test , in test modify ONLY value JPEGDithering , then you seeing what value 0/1/2 identical and diffirent will be only with JPEGDithering=3 and so be on any value JPEGDCT , next need compare in Total Commander with calculating up the summ MD5 and SHA256.

Re: XnView MP (Windows + Linux) 1.11.4 beta 2 for Qt6
Initial tests of the Qt 6 Linux build are very positive, at least for me when using a 4k monitor. The use of Qt 6 means fractional scaling actually works properly without blurring the text and the GUI icons are now (mostly) much sharper as well. It does have that file dialog using the basic Qt dialog instead of the KDE one but honestly the Qt 5 builds were doing that anyway. Not that it matters to much for me since most of the time I just open images in XnView MP by associated them in Dolphin. Perhaps most importantly is it correctly compensates for the scaling instead of slightly zooming in like it did with Qt 5.
So yeah, I'd say it's a winner.

Re: XnView MP (Windows + Linux) 1.11.4 beta 2 for Qt6
Initial tests of XnView 1.11.4 beta 2 for Qt6 on Linux are excellent. The move to Qt6 delivers excellent hiDPI support, text and GUI icons are sharp, scaling works properly without the slight zoom issues seen in previous/Qt5 builds, and fractional scaling behaves correctly. Performance is noticeably improved much faster than previous versions and stability seems solid so far. Importantly, I haven’t experienced any crashes when opening video files, which was a problem in earlier builds.
I'll continue testing and will update this review if I notice any bugs.
Thank for your amazing work!

I have been using the beta on Linux for a while now without any issues. What are the requirements for the beta to be considered and released as stable? In case there were no significant issues found, is there a release date/ETA?

Re: XnView MP (Windows + Linux) 1.11.4 beta 2 for Qt6
I just tested the Linux version with Wayland KDE on Arch.
On my testing the program no longer crashes on video, and plays h264 and vp9 video codecs fine but doesn't play av1. With av1, the sound plays but there are no visuals.
I also noticed there was sometimes inconsistent sound volume when flipping back and forth between two videos. Sometimes the volume was loud and sometimes the volume played normally. The occurrence of the loud volume seemed random.
Thanks for working on this.
