Vector support

Post by xnview »

How much would you agree to pay for vector support (CGM, DGN, DRW, DWF, DWG, DXF, EMF, WMF, PLT, PCL, PCT, SVG, CMX) ?
Converting vector => bitmap, and vector => vector

I've never used any of those formats, nor any other vector ones (unless you count PSP's native format), so my vote would be $0. I wonder how many other people in the community use vector formats though...

Same here, I do not use vector formats at all. I think only people who actually work with CAD programs or similar will have any vector graphics. And I assume that usage is mainly commercial and little private.

:) Hello Pierre !

- Same than Drahken for me, 0.01 € max. Image

- However, I saw a free SVG program @ Alain Laroche-friend's site just yesterday…
• To create such vectorial pictures, of course.
Sorry for the Members, the page is in French only… but the author's related site is in English.
- Besides, we have *.EMF / *.WMF in Windows… Nothing for free around M$ (for once…) ?

 Kind regards,
Claude

I use http://www.inkscape.org for svg graphics. It would be cool to have vectorsupport in xnview as well. good but not most important.

In America, many graphics artists/illustrators use vector tools for production, Adobe Illustrator being the most popular. However, EPS is the most popular format for transmitting vector documents to publishers, so most such artists convert from .ai format to .eps. If XNView could preview .eps (using an internal function), that would attract attention.

On the other hand, most graphics artists over here use Macs, so XNView doesn't even have a play in that arena.

I'm using XnView with DXF/DWG plugins from CadSoftTools, and it's very interesting for CAD users.
I support the development of XnView about the vector formats. :)

SVG support would be great.

I'm using Inkscape to create vector graphics. This app saves SVG-Files.

The most new scalable icons are using SVG.
Windows Vista will have scalable icons.
All new browsers supports or will support SVG. It's a W3C standard. It become important more and more. :!:

So, vector support would be a great feature. SVG is license free, or not?!

Please make it possible for the free version of XnView. :D

I'd appreciate vector support very much. Especially converting to SVG for web publishing...

One interesting thing in supporting vector formats would be the possibility to crop vector images and save them again in (same or other) vector format. I don't know any application supporting this right now.

SVG is good and nie, but I prefer using some spiecal software (inksape) for it.
Exporting (converting) TO svg is nie to have, but by faw not a XnView (image viewer) feature!
