Problems reading .big files

I'm trying to convert .big files to a more universal readable format. Bot Nconvertor isn't able to read the .big files I'm trying to convert ('could not be determined').

I've extracted to .big files from a IGN 1:25.000 CDROM (French maps producer). .big is originaly the Cartes Michelin format and is supported in Xnview. I suspect the by IGN used .big format is slightly changed for protection purposes... Has anyone any idea or even some experience how to convert this 'propierty' format?

Atlas Routier Michelin Europe 2004 with this files:
/Raster/Data/eur_1000k_7.big
/Raster/Data/eur_1000k_75.big
/Raster/Data/eur_1000k_150.big
/Raster/Data/eur_1000k_300.big

XnView isn't able to read this .big files...

Just wondering if this was ever fixed? I've just run into the same problem. I can provide a sample .big if needed, but they're pretty big (over 500MB). I think they contain a lot (!) of images.
