Hi there - first of all --> great proggy!
Had a lot of fun with it .... it does the job in a very fine way.

While googling the forum I found some topics relating watermarking. Just wanted to bring the topic back to mind.

As said before by the other authors - I'd like to "sign" my pics before giving them away. Yes I know ... there are other progs I coul use.
But why should I ...? I'm satisfied wit XN-View.

Would be nice .... ;)

I would also be interested in knowing how to do this in XnView (if it is possible).

You can use Batch convert + 'add text'

This is not a watermark…

:) Hello !

- Indeed, you can add a text by this way, but IMHO this is not a watermark…
- A real watermark (filigrane in French) is similar to that you can see through a banknote when watching it in front a light-source.
- Hence, this supposes that the opacity of the text to add - and not only a text, it could be another graphism to import - must be configurable.
- Moreover, the colours - object and its background - might be set automatically according to the dominant background colour of the picture.
- The location of the watermark on the image could be set on a preview via Drag & Drop of the pre-selected object to add…
- Of course, this should be another standalone function, limited to OSs and formats supporting a variable transparency, so having its own requirements.
Finally, using the batch-convert actually has another inconvenience :
- If you don't change the output-format, you get one message per pic (imagine for 1,000 pics !)
"The file ‹xyz.eee› exists already. Do you want to replace it?"
• A button "Overwrite All" on this message should be welcome, and also useful for all other operations where the output-format is unchanged.
• Just my 0.05 €…

 Kind regards,
Claude

Some very good suggestions. I thought of something similiar when i read the thread and would welcome such functionality...

You can choose in batch convert from
1) replace
2) ask
3) skip
4) rename

:) Hello !
Some very good suggestions. …
- Thank you ! I guess there is a lacuna¦confusion here…
… You can choose in batch convert from …
- Indeed I known, but making a quick test for the Pierre's tip, I forgot to set it ! :P So, you could read :
"… and also useful for all other operations where the output-format is unchanged, while you forgot to set "Replace" in the main dialogue."
• I saw such pictures having a real watermark on the Web… but I don't remember on which page! It's really nice !
• In the practice, I guess it might be so complicated to implement… Hence, it could be a plugin as a DLL or EXE used only by those having appropriate pics and OSs… And some user-programmer could make it, this should help Pierre…

Thanks Clo - couldn't explain it better.

As mentioned, I need it for labeling pics,so that they are "copyrighted".
A text will do but a pic (logo) would be better.

Hope we're pushing it not to far.

Just an idea - I tried the proggy Arles Image Web Page Creator.
You can watermark your pics there. Not that comfortably but at least it works.

I support the request for true watermarking.
