"Open with" on a folder

Hi, not sure if this has been reported before (did a search but didn't find anything).
If I select a folder icon (in the browser view) and open the contextual menu, the "open with" actions won't work.
In fact, I would expect the "open" action (again, contextual menu when on the folder icon) to actually enter into the folder, in the browser view, but it is also ignored.
Tried also with the main menu > Tools > Open / Open with, with the same results.

I understand that "open with" actions are primarily intended for images, but I think it would be desirable to get them working also on folders. In my case, I could open 'Media Player Classic' from XnView to listen a whole album while browsing my photos.

I see this enhancement request in "Will be fixed in RC2", which I find very surprising. I think this has to be discussed, thoroughly before making any changes.

Simply using the same list of programs for files and folders does not make too much sense.

Just my 2 cents.

Right, but it doesn't work good also for files...

There are few posts about it, but it's part of large topic, so I'll start new topic in Requests forum...

The fix may be about "open" not working on folder rather than new feature. We'll see.

Open now works on folders. Yay. Fixed?

As far as I can read the original poster wanted "Open with". What we have now is "Open".

As written above, I think this should be discussed and then the change should be made - not the other way round.
