Yes, it should work, just run it, but I'm not sure about Vista.

Pierre can't add support for Windows Vista until it is out of beta and has gone Retail.

That's partly true. But I would expect no problems with XnView on Vista. I think Walter should just give it a try. Installation might be an issue, at first Walter could try to use the ZIP archive rather than the Setup.

Thanks for all replies and comments. Yes, I'm using the EXE file from ZIP without installation and XnView works at least with the functions I was using so far.

XNView was crashing right at the start, until I deleted the xnview.ini file. Works fine now, including the converter. Somewhere inside is a setting Windows Vista doesn't like at all.

Hope this helps future debugging

Another bug...

Another issue in Vista:

I cannot get vista to add the "View in XnView" shortcut to contextmenus. If I check the checkbox and go back again, it's gone.

However: if I open XnView as administrator (rightclick the shortcut and choose "Run as adminisrator", it does work! So, it is a rights issue, but since Winamp can add those shortcuts, XnView should be able too...
