b1: crash if selecting .txt file for multi-page PDF

Post by andreasm82 »

I didn't see that there was a .txt file in my folder from which I selected some .jpg files to create a PDF file with the great multi-page feature.

As I want to start creating the PDF, xnview crashed.

BTW: Would be nice if I could add .txt files as text in the PDF file.

Strange, i can't reproduce this bug. Do you have always the crash?

I confirm the bug: select 1 text file, then use Menu>Create>Multi-Page file and save as PDF.

=> Message "Format of the File <> could not be determined" => Crash (in PDF only).

There should be an automatic removal of non-displayable files by XnView without Crash (and can't text files be exported as text or image?)

There is no crash anymore with Beta2...

...but isn't it possible to have a better handling of non-usable files while creating those PDF?
(ie: checking files beforehand, displaying a single alert message if there are many problematic files and asking to proceed (or not) with other good files)

-> Moved to 'Feedback' for this last part.

Currently not, or use a 2 pass. Check first all files, and then create the PDF. But a little slower for some format...

True. But I think the most important for those tools is to work correctly (before looking for speed/efficiency). It should also solve the issue raised in this topic, right?

In beta 3, non-usable files are discarded before creating the multipage document. That's fine with me and solves the original bug -> closed.
