RC1: Shortcuts to folders don't work...
Shortcuts to folders don't work. But shortcuts to files do. The problem is that if you double-click a shortcut to a folder, it opens a Windows Explorer window instead of moving XnView's Browser to the linked folder. Please fix.
Previously reported in several places. Please use search function for "shortcut folder".

Is there not a duplicate topic listed as fixed in RC2?robc wrote:marsh, why is this topic still under "Closed" while it's not? it seemed to me you had already moved it but I must have been mistaken...
I'd like a comment from Pierre, it seems to me XnView lacks "support" for folders in several instances (autothumbnailing, here, etc.)

It seems duplicated, but I'm not sure: see what ckit says for example.
The point here is that a double-clicked folder shortcut opens the folder in explorer while in my opinion it should move the browser in XnView to the physical folder it points to. I have everything set to open in the associated program, also.
OK, this is what it happens with RC1 on a folder shortcut, in what I hope is a clearer description:
- double-click it: it opens with Windows Explorer
- right-click it and select open: nothing happens
- right-click it and select open|with associated program: it opens with Windows Explorer.
It's now obvious that a folder is treated like an image file, which it shouldn't, it's a "container": a shortcut should either
- open the file it points to in XnView or in the associated program (according to the setting) if it's a shortcut to a file
- navigate the browser to the folder it points to if it's a shortcut to a folder.
