AWD-files support (Artweaver)?

Post by Troken »

I've installed the AWD-file plug-in and now XnView can view and read AWD-files, which is great. But everytime I click on the thumb an error message appears:
__________________________________
AWD to TIFF converter

Error converting AWD to TIFF.

[OK]

Funny that even though the message appears, I can read the file and all. Is it a bug or is the plug-in not working properly?

You have only this message when you click on a thumb? And you have not it when you load the file?

Yes, I have it both when selecting and loading it (single + doubleclick). It also appears when I open a folder with AWD image in it. Or when I save in a different format. It seems that it shows everytime I do anything with the image. But apart from that, it works fine and I can view, open and edit. Its just annoying :)

Oh ok, but AWD plugin is not for Artweaver, so you can remove Xawd.dll

I removed Xawd.dll and now the AWD-plugin works. Thank you.

Heh, I was about to post about this issue. Clearly the issue is a conflict between the awd.usr plugin from artweaver and the xawd.dll plugin.

While we're on the subject, anyone know what format artweaver's ad files actually are, or if they're a purely custom format? I'm guessing they're a variation on tiff, but they could be almost any lossless or near lossless format. (The filesize is far too massive to be any lossy format.)

I think its a lossless format, but thats only a guess. I think that the Artweaver developer can tell you all about it, he seems to be very helpful.

Um, this is not important really, but a new question grew: why don't XnView support Artweaver (.awd) files? Sure, there is a working plug-in at the Artweaver website, but couldn't it be implemented?
(I noticed that a certain other popular imagesofteware - beginning with "I" - supports Artweaver in the latest version) :)

BTW: The conflicting Xawd.dll seems to be gone in RC2, so the awd-plugin works nicely now.
