TIFF 16-Bit look very dark in Vista

Post by Cumulo »

Hello,

im using 1.90.2 in vista 64 bit, but all my pictures in TIFF-16bit looks like very dark. On Media Center, Photogalery, Irfanview etc, all TIFF's look like great.

Any Ideas to solve this Problem?

Hello,

sure, but the size ist 36.3 MB for this 16bit-TIFF.
You could get im from this Adress:

http://www.gleitsegelwetter.de/CRW_5552.tiff

It's a Canon EOS 10D RAW-File, converted with DCRAW 8.60 from Dave Coffin. The converted File hat sRGB ICC-Profile included.

Hi,

yes, only on Vista x64. I get changed my OS last Month. Before, i am using XP SP2 with xnview (all versions) without any problems. At moment, i don't have a XP Machine there. Can only test on Vista.

What do you think. Could this be a Problem by extract in dcraw with RAW to TIFF?

And the tiff is correctly readed in other software (not embedded viewer)?

Hi,

i found out, that dcraw extract RAW to TIFF with embed GAMMA. I think, xnview coudn't read Gamma Value of my TIIF's and takes it 1.00 and that's the reason why my Pics look like very dark?

dcraw say's in command syntax:

-4 Write 16-bit linear instead of 8-bit with gamma

The Problem ist, dcraw can not extract RAW directly to TIFF without Gamma.
