RAW Conversion, how is it done? (technically)

Post by GulDukat »

Hi!

Could someone elaborate on how the actual RAW conversion is done as it seems rather quick. I'm used to S7RAW to convert my .RAF files. I understand that the functionality is difference, but the speed remains quite fast. How does the conversion actually differ from "other programs"? What is it you (presumably) do not do? :)

If you use 'preview', the embedded jpeg will be readed...

Yes, I know that. I'm talking about double clicking the file, getting a full (i nmy case) 4MP picture on my screen. The preview is just 1MP. So how do you generate the 4MP picture so quickly?
