1.90.2 (on W2K): Last character missing from "comment&q

Post by HWK »

Dear Pierre,

we (at the German Literature Archiv at Marbach) are going to start a huge scanning project to convert the library's paper catalogue.

In this project, important metadata is written to the tiff tag 270(dez), "Image Description" of every scan (file format is grayscale tiffs, LZW compressed).

We are rather new to XnView, but soon began to love its ability to show this tag as "comment" in the "Thumbnails & Detail" view when evaluating test scans.

Unfortunately, the last character seems to be missing from this "comment", regardless of its length.

Using other tools like Ulead TIFF Tag Editor or tiffinfo we can confirm for example the tiff tag reads

Code: Select all

Datei=0136_0002_1.tif; Kette=44622; Kartentyp=SY; KFarbe=weiss; Barcode=1
while XnView only shows as "comment"

Code: Select all

Datei=0136_0002_1.tif; Kette=44622; Kartentyp=SY; KFarbe=weiss; Barcode=
The truncation only occurs to tiff files of this kind, the comment of jpg files for example is perfectly complete.

Could you send me a sample, please?
Pierre.

:) Hello !

• With the HWK's sample <0136_0002_1.tiff>, I get an error message with the 1.90.test. Same than the Paul's issue, and here :
"Bad LZW codes", but I guess it's because the TIFF contains meta-data…

- I works with 1.82.4, though…
