Buggy tool tip in details mode

Post by Jota.Ce »

I have this options for displaying tool tips over files:

Code: Select all

<Filename>, <Size> bytes, <Modified>
<Width>x<Height>, <BPP> bits por pixel
<Format>
In this example, i think that's not important.

The thing is that if i set View->Thumnails, correct tool tip is shown. Even if i then set details mode ("lista" in spanish), it works.

But... if i:
1/ Set View->List (i mean detailed list, not column list)
2/ Close XnView
3/ Open XnView
4/ Bring an image tool tip
Then i get this kind of tool tip:

Code: Select all

 ,  bytes,
 x ,  bits por pixel

I think those variables are set to "" until you set View->Thumbnails (another options may also wrok correctly)

Thanks, and keep on working that good.

Thanks for your attention, Pierre.

The fact with this bug is that... i never get the correct tooltip, since i always have the "View->List (detailed)" option enabled.

I discovered some time ago that it works correctly in thumbnail mode (and other modes i think). And it works correctly if you change between that modes.

In my previous post, i wanted to mean i use detailed mode always, so if i don't make changes in that configuration i never get the correct tool tip.

I'm using Spanish language, but i don't think that's important in this issue.

I insist, i think the key of the problem is starting XnView with detailed mode, NOT changing between modes.

I can send you my INI file and a snapshot if you want.

And.. i forgot to tell you that i found this bug since the first version i tried (maybe v1.84). It's not a new bug.

Thangas again and best regards.

Try enabling option... browser>file list>[misc]>Scan file headers in folders- 'always'. There is a default tooltip which is shown when the file isn't scanned (thumbnails mode always scans files).

Thanks again for taking your time with this.

I've tried that (i had the "Exclude Diskett/CD/DVD" option enabled), but it works the same way.

I maybe have to send INI/Snapshot to Pierre to make him believe me xD

Regards to everybody.

Confirmed for XnView v1.91 & v1.91.1 on Windows 2000. (Scan file headers in folders is set to Always.)

My settings for Show tooltips:

Code: Select all

<Filename>
<Format>
<Width>x<Height>x<BPP> · <Size>
<Modified>
View As = Thumbnails » Tooltips during scan:

Code: Select all

image.jpg, 1234567 bytes, 30.02.2007 20:07
View As = Thumbnails » Tooltips after completed scan:

Code: Select all

image.jpg
JPEG TrueColor (v1.2)
1024x768x24 · 1.234.567
30/Feb/2007 20:07:30
Tooltips with View As set to Details:

Code: Select all

image.jpg

xx · 1.234.567
30/Feb/2007 20:07:30

I don't even get filename, size and date.

But if you also have problems with tool tip, then it's not only me.
