Rename Based on Date

Post by geralds34 »

I am using the rename function, to sequentially rename photos based on date. I'd like the sequence number to be based on time the shot was taken.

Is there a function for that, or do I sort based on EXIF date?

You can use EXIF date in the template (or with menu)

I have been able to rename some files.

I have to run the batch rename function for each day, but frequently get an error, just saying "Error renaming the file".

If I reboot the PC, sometimes I am able to then rename.

You get error? Which template do you use?

I tried another renamer (cam2pc) , and also got am error, so I think it might be my system. It has been powered down for a month while on vacation, so maybe virus scanning and updates.

If I get the error again, I will open another thread, so as to not send you on a wild goose chase.

Rename error

I have run into that when I go through several iterations of renaming and accidentally have one number sequence overlap another... but once the numbers are organized the error goes away.
