1.94.2: set as wallpaper left files on xnview folder

when i set any image as wallpaper by xnview, it is converted to BMP and stored to xnview folder, then registry value is edited (windows). - now, when i want to change wallpaper, i choose on new image "set as wallpaper", it makes new BMP and place it to xnview folder - without removing old wallpaper file... so after few months changing wallpapers i have discovered that there is 20 BMP on xnview directory for which are there no link - i did not know about it at all...

suggestion:
1) copy bmp to windows/usr directory to make wallpaper visible from "wallpaper" gui chooser
2) remove old wallpaper when setting new one

XnTriq: umm sorry, but i do not understand this "feature". i think such behave is "bug" - or there should be settings of it... really, i don't need any "backuped" wallpapers - .bmp is created from another .jpeg file - so if i would make wallpaper from "a.jpg", i will make new bmp - why to store "a.bmp" in xnview directory? i know, hdds are big nowadays, but i like some kind of order on my data...

... there is also thing which i don't like on this feature. i really do not like to make applications "multi-user" - because i have to set same settings for every user, so i like more use "single-user" installation with .ini on XnView application directory.. but what happens, when i change wallpaper in my account?! huh... every user has now my wallpaper... X-( "old" behaviour was better to me

have you tried the following settings?

1. Tools » Options... » System integration » Integration:
   • (•) as INI in folder [XnView]
     Folder used for other files [XnVIew]
2. %ProgramFiles%\XnView\xnview.ini:

   Code: Select all

   [Wallpaper]
   Filename=wallpaper.bmp
   ; Format=jpeg

Maybe you'll like this suggestion better:

I need just one option here:

- remove wallpapers older than [x] day(s)

(or - maintain maximum [x] wallpapers)

XnTriq: umm... well i do know how to set it or where is wallpaper stored - and this is thing i think is not so clear. thing i don't like is:

2008-01-01: i decide to set my wallpaper from "foo.jpg"
- xnview creates bmp file and store it to "XnView/xnview_wallpaper_20080101.bmp"

2008-01-02: i decide change my wallpaper from "bar.jpg"
- xnview creates bmp file and store it to "XnView/xnview_wallpaper_20080102.bmp"

so every day i change my wallpaper... and after month, when i see what is on "XnView" directory, i see 31 bmp files, and only one (last one) is used as wallpaper.
also, there is no clue, that these files exists - windows wallpaper chooser does not see bmp files from "XnView" directory, and in xnview, there is no list of generated wallpapers - i have to go manually to directory and remove this odd files...

and my suggestion is to remove old wallpaper file when generating new one - this file is odd... when i would make wallpaper "old" image, i'll do it from "source" jpeg file - so removing generated .bmp file is possible, isn't it?
or another suggestion is to store generated bmp to windoze (usr on unix) directory - to make gui tools possible to see that generated wallpaper files...

(sorry if i don't understand what you want to tell me... i don't get it...)
