Can't change IPTC Keyword field

Post by Patrick75002 »

Hi
I (erroneously) added an IPTC Keyword to 470 images, and I am now unable to erase it.
Here is how I proceed :
- select the images
- choose CTRL+I (IPTC edit) / Keywords
- erase the keyword value (select the value in upper area + erase button)
- select Replace all previous values
- clic Write All

The keyword are still there after this... Am I doing something wrong ? If this is a bug, is there another way to remove this keyword ?

Thanks for your help ! (I am using v1.94.2 Aug 08, French)
And thanks for XnView, too !

Hello,
I have the same problem when I selected "update or change XMP data".
If it is unselected it is possible to change the IPTC Data but the XMP Date ist still old.
The the funktion "Edit > Metatada > Rebuild XMP" rebuilds the IPTC Data and not the XMP Data.

You want to remove one keyword, but files can have some other keywords, right?

On which OS ?
Because, I have also a similar problem when I select "update or change XMP data" into the IPTC menu (crtl+i) on v1.94.2.

Hello,

Yes, it rebuilds the IPTC if XMP Data exists.
If no XMP Data exist it builds the XMP Data.

Try to Edit IPTC Data an build XMP Data. Then Edit the IPTC Data save it and rebuild the XMP Data. You will see that the IPTC Data is rebuild.

You means 'rebuild XMP' or 'Edit IPTC' feature?

Hello,

I mean this Step by Step.

- Edit IPTC Data (change one Field - > Value 1)
- build XMP Data with "Rebuild XMP" or with "Update or create XMP" in the "Edit IPTC" dialog
- Edit the IPTC Data again (change one Field -> Value 2)
- now choose "Rebuild XMP"
- Edit IPTC Data an you will see the the field that you edit contains Value 1 and not Value 2.

When XMP Data exists and you have choosen "Update or create XMP" in the "Edit IPTC" it is not possible to store any changes of the IPTC Data in a not empty field. The same effekt you will see when you haven't choosen "Update or create XMP" but you try to use "Rebuild XMP Data" .

I hope this description is detailed enough.
