Renaming filename or folder with '.' does not work

Under Options/Browser/Browser:
when "use dialog to rename files" is unchecked and "hide extension to rename" is checked, we cannot correctly rename files with a point in the filename.

It happens to me for a folder named "2000.07 Paris" for example. When renaming using F2, all that is after the point is considered to be the file extension and we cannot rename it.
