JPG2000: Message "Contact your Dealer"

Post by ronstephens »

Hi!

I'm trying to convert G4 compressed tiff files to jpeg-2000. BTW, is this the same as JBIG2 that Adobe uses in their pdfs?

When I do this, I get the error mentioned above, "Contact your dealer".

The tiff is 600 dpi. I downconverted them to 300 dpi with Adove Photoshop Elements 3, in case that was the problem. The error then changed slightly. XNView then told me that if I were to convert it, I would lose resolution. I said OK, and THEN it again said this strange error.

What do I do?
THANKS!

No, jbg2 is not jpeg2000 format.

Your picture is a black&white picture?

Ooops. I guess I wasn't clear enough. Yes, the tif's are 2 bit black and white. I thought jpeg2000 was jbig2. I'm trying to get them to jbig2 because THAT format (jbig2) compresses them between 5 and 10 times TIGHTER than G4!!

Links to Russian webpages are a bit dubious, I think. Also you will not be able to read licence agreements or other important things. Could you please try to find a link to an English speaking webpage?

It's good to have other tools which can do the job, but we should try and solve the problems/issues in XnView.

The problem seems to be that the jasper JP2K plugin doesn't work with non-truecolor images. Take any greyscale, indexed, or 2-tone image and try to save it as "jpeg2000 jp2 file format" and you'll get the "contact your dealer" message. Convert the image to true color and save it and it'll work fine. On the other hand, you can leave it as greyscale or whatever and save it as a "lurawave jpeg2000 format", and it'll work fine.

Luratech supports the grayscale.. but the JASPER supports only color..

http://www.ermapper.com/

look for the jp2 sdk.. freeware but it has limit (till 500MB file size)..
