Error: 'Fehler in Anwendung' --- often it comes back

Hello,
XnView 1.96.1 does not function correctly. The programme is closing suddenly.
When I click on a Folder in "Browser " or in the the "Categories" comes up the mark "failure" - I add it here below. Then XnView is or gets closed. This failure appears by chance.
What could it be?

Die Anweisung in "0x004135b0" verweist auf Speiher in "0x01ece155". Der Vorgang "resd" konnte nicht auf dem Speicher durchgeführt werden.

Could you try to start with a clean xnview.ini?

Hello,
Unfortunately it was not a long time that XnView worked. Whenever I delete the data INI, XnView works again. You cannot say when the failure will happen. Probably it is by chance. Is there any possibility to avoid the failure?

Yes, it is the same problem and it happens frequently but irregularly.

No.
At first, I quit XnView.
Then delete .ini.
Then start Xnview again. It works perfekt a few time.
Suddenly the failure comes again in a Categorie or a Browserfolder
