This problem--if it is a problem, and not my mistake--has been around for quite a while, but I have had trouble proving it. But I think I've got it this time.
Xnview sometimes does not display a folder. It's just missing.
Please see this image: http://img26.imageshack.us/i/0pic.png/ (click on the image for a larger view)
On the left is Xnview in browser mode, showing the PC's directory tree. On the right is Windows Explorer, showing the same thing.
However, there is no "\znb\Misc" folder in the XnView tree, and there is that folder in the Explorer view.
All of the other folders at various levels are showing as they should. But "Misc" is mysteriously missing from Xnview's display.
Do we know why this could be?
Obviously, both XnView and Windows Explorer are running on the same computer, so it could not be a permissions problem (could it?). The PC in question is a Compaq laptop running Vista.
The "misc" folder really exists and has some real files (JPGs) in it. It is on another computer mapped as local drive.
????
Any help or comments would be appreciated.

Thanks, Marsh. I read that info about network folders, I don't think it applies here.
Also, I have more info.
The previous scenario did involve looking up a directory tree on a network computer.
However, I have now experience exactly--and I mean exactly--the same thing on a local computer, this time running XP SP2.
So this confirms--I think--that the problem is not related to (a) networked computers, or (b) versions of Windows.
