"New text file" option in browser right click menu?
In addition to the "new folder" option in the browser right click menu, can we also have a "new text file" option? This is very frequently used when adding notes to folders.

Why not, sometimes a simple text file can be useful too (instead using the meta-data).
In this case, why not using automatically the existing function under : "Create\File Listing" ...(Shift+L) by selecting before the entire folder (all files) then saving the file into this folder ?

I disagree, perhaps as menu option, or shortcut, but not in the right click menu, I'd rather remove some items from this menu. Just my opinion!

It's really not necessary.

Hmm, I can see that this feature would be helpful for you, ghost zero. But at the moment I don't see the standard use case, here:
The user can add descriptions to any file (Edit > Description/Comment...) or shortcut Ctrl+D. The description is stored in a separate file 'descript.ion' and can be applied for all files, regardless whether they support metadata or not. And for files with metadata support (JPEG) you have the metadata and description will be stored, there.

i prefer the use of simple .txt files

Ctrl + RMB on a file in the thumbnail panel brings up the shell context menu. Implementing this shortcut for the background of the panel would allow the user to access the New submenu from inside XnView.

but that still doesn't enable the creation of .txt files.
would be useful to also allow CTRL+RMB on blank area.
