Also, closing the last tab doesn't close XnView even if Closing last tab closes XnView is set. I'm using Windows XP.

Yes a bug, confirmed in 0.38.1

I'm not able to reproduce this in MP 0.38.1 - I enabled the setting, then I closed last remaining tab on interface and it worked as normal (program exits with enabled setting). perhaps this might've been fixed in 0.38.1, Pierre will help you there.

So I of course I believe eventually will work together again and those tickbox settings that are not responding will get resolved.
