For years I have been using Microsoft's Image Composer v1.5 that came supplied with Front Page. Apart from being an excellent photo editor it also allows you to make your own images by inserting an unlimited amount of images onto the work surface. They can be cutout, have filters and effects applied to them, warped and distorted, add text with FX, and add shapes. It's a very easy program to use but sadly gives bad performance with Windows 7, despite the compatibility options.

I'm now looking for a replacement and figured that XnView may be what I'm after however, having installed the evaluation version I can see no way to insert other images onto the work surface. Does such an option exist or should I be looking elsewhere please?
