Overlay icons on folder thumbnails
Is this a known bug?
Re: Overlay icons on folder thumbnails

• Yes, a trivial one !

- I also tested with a folder having sub-dirs in which not any file has this kind of info, to ensure me that's not intentional…
- However, as soon as you open any of these sub-folders, the overlay icons go away and don't come back…
…till the next session !

I can't confirm that behavior. Is caching enabled on your installation, Clo?Clo wrote:However, as soon as you open any of these sub-folders, the overlay icons go away and don't come back…

Re: Overlay icons on folder thumbnails

• Yes, the thumbs cache is “ON” here.

Re: Overlay icons on folder thumbnails
OK, when I enable caching, I get the same behavior as reported by you.
Re: Overlay icons on folder thumbnails

• While checking the oddity reported by budz45 THERE, I found another side of the bug reported here :
1. In the Browser, display a bunch of files having not any metadatum, i.e. some icons in a small folder,
2. Set the display as List+Detail
3. Create a descript.ion file for any icon.
• In the Info column of this (text) file, you have XMP - IPTC - Exif overlay icons !

I'm using XnViewMP v0.38.7 of 22/Jul/2011 with caching disabled (portable mode).xnview wrote:Do you have db cache?

- Tools » Settings... » Browser » Cache DB
- » Thumbnails » Enable thumbnail caching = deactivated
» Excluded/Included = all drives/partitions excluded
- » Thumbnails » Enable thumbnail caching = deactivated
Re: Overlay icons on folder thumbnails
There was a problem with previous DB, if you remove it, same problem?
Pierre.

I always do a “clean” (= from scratch) install of XnView and XnViewMP.
I even remove the Trolltech registry settings.
Re: Overlay icons on folder thumbnails
But you tell me that your db is 22,528 bytes in size??? Try by removing the file?XnTriq wrote:Yesxnview wrote:There was a problem with previous DB, if you remove it, same problem?

You have that on all folders?

- Rename %ProgramFiles%\XnViewMP\XnView.db to XnView.old.db.
- Start XnView.
» All subfolders of %UserProfile%\My Documents\My Pictures\ have three overlay icons again (XMP + IPTC + EXIF) - Close XnView.
» XnView.db and XnView.old.db are both 22,528 bytes long.
