If I get you right you don't like the logo overlap /exceed the "document" on the right side.
No, it just doesn't look nice, I quess you fixed that already...

...so I vote for bmp9da.ico

For the 16x16 pixel it's General-07.
I agree, but I think we should use also "A-07.ico" for the other icons, for the same colours, I like the system :)

No more new designs and suggestions for two days, so it's a good time to make the full iconset for XnView 1.75.

For the iconset I will use:

16x16, 16 colour: A-07, General-07
32x32 pixel: 9da

If anyone wants to create the full iconset, please let me know via personal mail. Otherwise I'll create it towards the end of the week.

Thank you very much ckv, Dreamer, and Olivier for your contributions and lively discussion!

Greetings,

Helmut

We are all doing well, thanks. Good to read that you like the icons we have designed and chosen in a pretty democratic and international way. :-)

Greetings to Mexico, Helmut

helmut wrote:The current iconset provided in XnView 1.74 has some problems/issues:

- Transparency not correct (see topic 'Filetype icons: Wrong transparency'
- In detail view, 16x16 pixel icons do not look nice

A while back, Carlos Duarte has provided a new iconset, see topic 'Special icons developed exclusively for XnView'. Carlos' iconset has some new problems (including possible copyright issues, the small icons look much like ACDSee icons).

So I've decided to do some design work. The result is another iconset. The iconset contains icons for various graphic formats in
- 16x16
- 32x32
- 48x48 pixel

The 16x16 pixel icon all look the same for all formats (JPG, TIF, ...), so the format cannot be seen when looking at the icon (different to ACDSee). The 16x16 pixel icons are used in detail view of MS Explorer for example, in this view one can see the file type in a column, which I find sufficient. Please holler if you think it's important to see the format info in the small icons, too.

I'm not a graphic designer, perhaps some people can have a look and check whether
- Icons look o.k. both in "Symbol" and "Details" view of MS Explorer.
- Icons look o.k. on a PC with limited colours (256, 65536)

Also any other feedback is welcome.

The iconset is compiled into the XnView program (xnview.exe). After associating files with XnView using "Tools > Options", category "Installation" you will see the icons in Browser and MS Explorer.

Have I already told that I really like the iconset? The icons are good looking and in MS Explorer and XnView browser you can easily distinguish the various file types.

I think we all did a really good job. :-)

I don't want to sound too lame but they all look a bit too "win 98" lol

i guess one thing that would give a new life to them would be a different backgorund. that white sheet is overused.

i'll try to make something, then i'll post it here.

ok here it is... i'm not a pro at design but you should get my point

and here's the psd

i think i've messed a bit too much with the xnview logo, but whatever... lol maybe it could be put inside a small frame like the default pictures icon on windows.:P

Right, discussion should continue in the new topic "Icon madnes vol.2". Unfortunately as moderator you can split, but not prune posts. |VooDoo|, please post your sample in the other topic, thanks.
