I've just noticed a major limitation on XnView which can't be avoid due to a deluxe version so I'm not going to try and replace IrfanView. The two apps will remain installed and as they are.
I don't understand?
Pierre.

XnView is freeware for private use, only. Pierre gets money from companies which buy licences. And XnView is not OpenSource. This is written in the short licence terms or can be conducted from these. I think and hope that XnView users and especially people posting and helping XnView are not surprised when reading this.

For all I know making XnView a purely commercial product isn't an option and was never an option. I trust in the freeware (for private use) "XnView" and think that this will not change. Sure enough you never can tell what will happen and I'd be surely pretty dissappointed if the licence terms would change. That's a risk I take.

With this in mind, I think each person has to decide whether he/she wants to contribute to XnView or not.

Greetings,

Helmut
