crop is greyed out?

crop is greyed out?
I know this must be a clueless newbie question, but why is the crop menu item greyed out? XnView version 1.80.3 on Windows 2k SP4 trying to crop either jpg or bmp. Always greyed out everywhere.

Hello !- You must select an area with the mouse (or a pre-selected one) to get the command active, same for the related button in the tool-bar…
