This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.9.6. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.
1. Just done additional testing and found that rotation still happens even in v1.9.9, but only if image is cropped square (1:1 ratio) say 800x800px then it still shows rotated 90° clockwise in thumbnail and full screen view of XnView MP.

The image rotation issue is numerous. I've tried several versions before, but the problem remains unresolved, which is disappointing. viewtopic.php?t=50310

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.10.4. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.
Its fixed in the way that it does not change orientation anymore for square images, however when using Flip Horizontal and Flip Vertical in ACR then XnViewMP does not show flipped image in preview or full image view, it still shows original image without Flip Horizontal/Vertical applied.

I have opened these 2 files in Photoshop, and have the same image.

Every time i load RAW (ARW or DNG) images they open in Adobe Camera Raw first and only then import to Photoshop, i have not tried to open them directly in Photoshop skipping Adobe Camera Raw.
Image flipped horizontally in Adobe Camera Raw and saved (DNG preview updated) - changes not reflected in XnViewMP JPG preview

Same image open again in Adobe Camera Raw - shows flipped
2.jpg
Same image viewed in FaststoneImageViewer (JPG preview) - shows flipped horizontally as intended.
