Batch change of XMP info fails

Hi
I'm fairly new to XNView so maybe this has been a topic already.

I am trying to batch change/update XMP in a number if jpg files at the same time. Title field.
But after refresh the old information appear again, but when I change one file at the time the updates work.
Also if I batch update the same field by ITPC it works.

What am I doing wrong or don't understand?

When batch editing, in the Edit XMP window, go to the Options tab.

For what you're describing, you'll need to uncheck "Replace only if original value is empty". (The IPTC window has the same choices, and there this might already be unchecked.)

That will allow you to overwrite existing data, but be careful with other fields that may get overwritten as collateral damage.

You can also use "Metadata>Transfer" menu instead.
This one strongly overwrites the chosen field, and can easily be used to clear a field

I don't have a Metadata > Transfer, but I do have a Metadata > Add/Replace metadata. Is that what you're speaking of?

I don't have a PC on hand yet, my memory stays on old versions

This function can easyly build a value :
Iptc title = My holidays at {iptc:city} in {iptc:state}
