can xnview be used to control any cameras for capturing to a laptop? if not, what
can anyone recommend that i could use to capture frames from a panasonic lumix

Re: question about levels and curves
and curves. xnview is sophisticated enough that i find it surprising that it's missing these.
for my purposes, though, it wouldn't matter if they were included if nconvert didn't have
them.

Re: question about levels and curves
thanks XnTirq.
since the links you post span 2004 for the earliest to the newest of over a
year ago, i take it i shouldn't hold my breath.
the smart curve photoshop plugin seems promising but there are some issues.
first, i don't see how i could get useful info out of it for use in nconvert ...

question about levels and curves
i use xnview to derive settings i use in nconvert for batch processing. i've recently
gotten some problem files and have found that using tools i find in gimp i can get
better results than i'm getting using similar tools in xnview. specifically, i'm referring
to the levels and curves tools in gimp ...

v.26 oddness and freeze on mac
just tried v.26 on intel mac pro running osx 1.5.8. clicked the 'file' menu on the main
mac menu bar and it turned into the help menu, then the whole thing froze and had
to be force-quit. v.21 has been running ok.

Re: Kodak Photo CD - Dimension Problem
i'm having pretty much this same issue.
trying to convert some old photo cds to another format using xnview batch.
i had xnview v1.96 and found that pcd images were opening at 768x512.
found this thread and downloaded the plugin for pcd (which i already had)

thanks all.
very heartening to see the final goal of matching what we know from current
xnview releases. i really like it and work across windows/*nix/mac platyforms
all the time.
thanks again,

general question about mp
been watching mp for quite a while and must say, i like it very much.
is mp intended to, over time, take on the capabilities of xnview generally,
things like the vast image manipulation and editing capabilities that xnview
has? or, is mp always intended to be a viewer exclusively? just curious ...

saturation value without hue or lightness?
can saturation be corrected without having to send hue and lightness corrections?
if i only want to desaturate an image, must i still send all three -hls values , or, is
there a way to just send the saturation value?
thanks,

order of processing?
i'm curious about three commands: eedge, edetail, and sharpen. more generally, i'm interested
in the order of processing for commands in nconvert.
if i do a crop and resize of a batch of images, does it matter where i put the commands i've
listed above? for example, if i take an image of, say ...

dither question
are the -binary dither and -dither commands linked? in other words,
would i use the binary dither command to set a dithering type before
applying the dither?
with a space in the -binary dither command, how do i use it in a script
without the script thinking 'dither' is a value?
is there a value ...
