Hi Pierre,
Drag and drop definitely doesn't work for me, if I drag the raw file. It works fine in XnView.
My rules are as follows:
cr2 -> xmp;jpg
crw -> xmp;jpg
arw -> xmp;jpg
rw2 -> xmp;jpg
There's no context menu for me in the settings dialog, files tab. Are you setting the rules somewhere else ...

Re: Companion File Handing in MP?
Hi Pierre,
Thanks for what you have done so far. However I'm sorry, but there are a lot of bugs in this implementation. It might have been easier for you to copy what you had working so well in XnView.

Companion File Handing in MP?
Hi,
Could someone please confirm whether MP has the ability to set up equivalent companion file handing to XnView Classic and if so how to access it. In Classic, there's a simple .INI section which implements exactly what I need, for example to move XMP and Canon/Panasonic/Sony Raw files with the ...

Re: Write Ratings to Externally Readable Data?
Thanks, Pierre.
If I have set ratings in XnView (standard version) can these be read by XnView MP, or would I need to do my ratings there as well?
Andrew

Write Ratings to Externally Readable Data?
Hi,
Is there any way to set up XnView so that ratings get written to an externally-readable form as I apply them? The ideal would be a sidecar XMP file, but writing the info back to the JPG EXIF or IPTC data would also work. Can it do this?
Thanks
Andrew

Re: Can't See Changes to Thumbnail Labels
Hi,
I fixed the initial problem - I just needed to change the "View As" to "Thumbnail + Label".
Supplementary question:
Is there any way to see the description from the descript.ion file in the thumbnail label?
Thanks
Andrew

Can't See Changes to Thumbnail Labels
Hi,
I want to display the IPTC Caption for my thumbnails as well as the filename. Under Tools/Options/Thumbnails/ThumbnailLabel I have added IPTC: Caption at the top of my list, but the data does not display. I have tried "Rebuild Thumbnails" for the directory but nothing changes. What am I doing ...

MakerNotes for RW2 Files
Hi,
If I have a Canon RAW file (.CR2) then XnView displays the full EXIF data including the MakerNotes. However with a Panasonic RAW file (.RW2), XnView only displays a limited subset of the EXIF data, although the full data is there if I look with ExifTool or similar. Is this something which could ...

Write Rating and Colour Label to XMP
Hi,
I'm starting to use XnView with Capture 1, which reads and writes its ratings and labels to the .XMP file. Is there any way to set XnView to write its ratings to the XMP file as well, so that these will be imported by CaptureOne?
Thanks
Andrew

Re: Two Problems with Panasonic GH2
Hi,
I've fixed the renaming problem. For some reason (probably related to the EXIF display problem) the simple "Date" template doesn't work with RW2 files. However, the alternative "Date Taken" seems to work fine.
The limited display of EXIF data is a nuisance, but not a major problem, so can ...

Re: Help! INI File has Disappeared!
When I couldn't find the files first I tried changing from "user" to "program". When I couldn't find an ini in either location I changed back from "program" to "user" and one turned up in the user directory, but missing some of my latest changes to companion files.
Does this make sense?
Thanks
Andrew

Re: Help! INI File has Disappeared!
Hi,
That's the one which showed me it should be in the program files directory.
I changed the settings to save to "user", and a copy re-appeared, but it had lost some changes I made yesterday.
I think there's still a bug in your logic to move settings between the different possible locations.
Thanks ...
