Re: corrupted image when switch to Browser mode while saving
Anyone able to reproduce? This is more evident if you are using a large image (10+ megapixel) because it takes longer to save. Basically, as soon as you click Yes to overwrite current image, press Enter to switch to Browser mode. Check the saved image, it will be corrupted.

Re: corrupted image when switch to Browser mode while saving
Yes, I can press Enter while XnView is still saving the image. It does not allow me to press "Page Down" though, until the image is done saving.
I don't think this matters, but I did change my xnview.ini to ShowSaveDlg=130. The reason I don't think it matters is even if I change back to ShowSaveDlg ...

corrupted image when switch to Browser mode while saving
I found a reproducible bug. It seems that if you switch to Browser mode while saving an image, it corrupts the image. I did not notice this issue before, but now that I am using an SLR camera with larger image size, maybe saving is taking longer, so this issue is more noticeable. I think XnView ...

Re: Show Information display bug
I switched back to Windows XP 96 DPI, and still saw the same issue. Then I fiddled around with the graphic card settings some more, and it worked fine. Then I switched to Windows XP 120 DPI, and it still worked fine. So I guess this isn't a bug! Maybe a buggy graphic card, I'm not even sure which ...

Re: Difference between rotation and lossless rotation?
@bucky
exactly. thank you for the explanation: that makes it more clear.
but why are the normal and the lossless mode working different / are not both working on the basis of an 8x8 block?

Re: Difference between rotation and lossless rotation?
@bucky
i can understand that image blocks consist of 8x8 pixels.
but that does not answer why the different rotations in my example produce different pictures.
Here's the explanation of each one:
10x30 image
1. browser click lossless rotation -> performs lossless rotation -> result cropped
2 ...

Re: Difference between rotation and lossless rotation?
In Browser, regardless of "use lossless rotation when possible (jpeg)" option, when I click the "Rotate clockwise" toolbar button, nothing happens, image is not rotated, preview just blinks.
That's not what happens for me. When I click "Rotate clockwise" button in browser, the image does lossless ...

Re: Difference between rotation and lossless rotation?
why is the above described cut off happening?
what is so special about the 8 pixel multiple?
does it occur for both dimensions?
why are the rotation modes working different?
I believe JPEG is encoded in 8x8 blocks, so if the image is not a multiple of 8 pixels in either dimension, then it will ...

increase length of Show Information field
I like to Show Information for all EXIF metadata, but I am running up against the length of the Show Information field. Could you make it longer (maybe 5x)?

That would be nice. Currently, I add the EXIF value that I want to the Show Information.

EXIF maker notes in Fullscreen Show information
Is there a way to display EXIF maker notes in the Fullscreen Show Information? Maker notes are proprietary EXIF values that different camera manufacturers use. I can see them in the EXIF properties window, but I can't seem to have them display in fullscreen.

Re: EXIF Thumbnails
I use exiv2 command line utility to view/set EXIF thumbnails. Not that user friendly, but if you must do this, then this is an option for now.xicex wrote:How do I view/edit/extract EXIF Thumbnails from JPEGs?
I only see rotate 90 and recreate..
But I can't view, or get it........

Re: disable auto play video in Viewer mode?
That seemed to remove the movies altogether from browsing (using page up/down). What I was looking for was a way to be able to browse through movies and photos, but not automatically play the movies until I click the Play button.xnview wrote:Tools > Options | View | Misc | Play movie
