RIOT Plugin

Post by blackdragonbird »

I'm a old user of XnView and RIOT together. The option to convert images in batch using a target image size in kilobytes is very handy to me.

But, yesterday I resolved to try the MP version of this software, but, unfortunately I can't get the RIOT plugin to work, I don't ever have a Plugin entry in the Tools menu.

Thanks in advice for any information.

See in XnView MP Tools | Export... - it has a very similar GUI and supports more formats than RIOT.

Like I said in my first post, I use RIOT because it allow me to convert images with a target image size in kilobytes.

I like to take game screenshots, but the JPEG quality of FRAPS is stupidly bad. So, I take screens in TGA or PNG and convert them and upload in photobucket. Photobucket has a image size limit of 1MB for free users, so, I simple put my image size limit in RIOT and batch convert many files. And RIOT has very little, near zero, quality loss in the convertion.

wow,

that is great news. Please do not forgett to notice us on this one.

I see, the export function of xnviewMP is nice but since we all tend to use the best and in this case the best algo to smush image size of png's I like to use Riot.dll with MP.
Except, you or others can tell me that there is no need to use it since the MP compression is also fine :)

My usage:

I am an online shop owner and mostly I shoot photos of our articles with my DSLR. Those very often have to be edited in Photoshop. I can save them for the web via PS....
Many times I am using MP and I 'd like to export images via Mp, too.
However, since our shop system (Prestashop) seems to compress images also I still do not know whether I need to hassle with all these :)

At least MP is great to batch compress (hopefully via Riot.dll) images of the front end of the shop (template images..).

FYI: You can also add a button for PngOptimizer to XnView's toolbar.

SuperPNG is a free Adobe Photoshop plug-in for using PNG (“ping”) files. It is faster than Adobe's own PNG plug-in and saves considerably smaller PNGs.
