Pierre, dear old friend, please do not become another Apple/Microsoft.
In the recent versions you changed the crop feature requiring confirmation (apply) for not apparent reason, which is not thankfully changed back to what it was.
However, the same completely pointless confirmations has been added to select and then paste. Now, when you select and copy a portion of the image, and then paste, you need to actually apply the paste. Which makes it A PAIN to multi-paste the same element (like a stamp) or if you want to crop with the same selection (or expanding the same selection) after you paste.
Please revert it for how it was for the past 20 years.

- use 'Paste in selection' command
- click outside of pasted selection to apply it
- press Ctrl+V twice and then Esc
- revert to old copy/paste functionality
