1.11.5 Cannot delete mp4 files

I don't know which category this problem of mine belongs to, i.e., where to post it.
For the longest time, I have had a problem with mp4 files. After I close a video, I cannot delete the file from the folder where it is. When I delete it, it first disappears, but then returns immediately. At the same time, the sound keeps playing although the file is no longer open. It is as if it were stuck on a loop somewhere invisible. I also cannot delete the file from the File Explorer because it says the file is still open in XnView, even though I have closed it.
The only workaround is to close MP completely, then delete the file in File Explorer, and then open MP again, but this is really irritating when going through many files and wanting to delete a file here and another one there.

I am aware that in my Misc. settings, I have ticked both Auto-play video and Loop video playing (screenshot). However, unticking the boxes does not change anything, not after closing and restarting MP or even after restarting my computer. The problem remains.

I read through the whole chain of messages. Was there an answer, explanation, solution or a fix to the problem? Yes, it is the same subject. I mentioned that I can toggle the auto-play videos and replay videos on and off, without any result. I still cannot delete videos, singly or in a selection; they always return. I did not even mention that there is more. I cannot move video files between folders either. Either the file does not move, or it says that there already is a file with the same name, do you want to overwrite it? Yes, but it says not possible, cancel.

Again, I would like to know how others delete their mp4 files and whether anyone has found a solution.

but you can try QT6 version, it uses different video handling
