B1: error with 'Open' non-displayable file when Hex is ON
With Options>Read/Write: 'Show hexadecimal for non-displayable files' ON, when you open a non-displayable file via Menu>File>Open, you get an error message "Format of the file <> could not be determined".
XnView should directly show the Hex mode without any error message.
XnView should directly show the Hex mode without any error message.

You nailed it! I just set Options>Keyboard/Mouse>"Open action" for 'All other files' to 'XnView' and the unknown file was opened in hexaview...marsh wrote:Have you changed your 'Open With' and 'Items Displayed' settings since first reporting this?

But...

Yes, I think Menu>File>Open bypasses all those settings (with some version or another).Olivier_G wrote:You nailed it!
