Dragging a pic to a category does not update iptc
It seems that the iptc info is not updated if you drag an image to one of the predefined cateogories.

Categories are not iptc, it's a DBlsolesen wrote:It seems that the iptc info is not updated if you drag an image to one of the predefined cateogories.
Pierre.
No, but what would be most common to assume. That the data is saved - as all the other data - in the picture, or that, that particular piece of data is not saved. I think that most people would expect it to be saved, and the people who does not want it saved can get an option, where they can turn the syncro off. IMHO.
IMHO, I think a program should be easy to use for a beginner. I think the smartest default will be to save it. The fact that you have an opinion whether to save in the file or in a db, says to me, that you know more than most users. Therefore, you should off course have the option to do as you please, but I still think that saving in the file will be the smartest use case for beginner users.

- IPTC/XMP for hierarchical categories + internal DB
- Categories database
- IPTC Keywords vs. IPTC Categories vs. XnView Categories
- IPTC categories and keywords
- Keyword-handling like Adobe Bridge
- Removing keyword
- XNView-Categories export to IPTC-Keywords
- How to use the category feature
- Better IPTC Support
IPTC and Categories hand in hand ?
Oh yes please!xnview wrote:i'll add an option to synchronise categories and IPTC
