Converting multipage PDF files into images?

Post by Hasan »

Hi :)

Its me again :D. Is there any method / command / plugin etc., for converting pages of multipage PDF files into images (i.e., .GIF, .PNG, .JPG etc.,). For instance, a PDF file "book.pdf" has 10 pages, and someones wants to convert these 10 pages into images. Can xnview do that? Like reading the PDF file and saving its every page as a separate image?

Apparently, XnView can only convert 1st page of a PDF file. Any suggestions?

I can see that option, but I can't use it, some plugin is needed probably, are you using some?

You can find that option in Viewer - not Browser - Menu - View > Page > Extract all into...

So you can see that option, which version you are using ? I'm using 1.7.4 and there is no option of "page" in "view" menu.

I'm not using any plugin, are you ??? (as you can see that option)

Dreamer” is right, that entry exists always in the View menu of the main browser window .
- But it can be blurred (greyed) when not available, following the file-type you are displaying into…

I agree. 'View' menu is for viewing, not other functionality.

I suggest to change the existing menu item "Tools > Create multipage" to "Tools > Multipage >" with a submenu:

Code: Select all

Create...
------------------
Extract all
Extract all into...

Your solution make sense, but I think users expect such options under File > Export... it's like that in many programs I know and also "Save" and "Save As" is there...

not present at all...

Again, you must use View mode, not Browser mode - to do it use the 1st toolbar "eye" button - Open or mouse double-click on pdf file.

Hi again :D

forgot something. by default, it "extracts" pages as .bmp. Can I extract in any another more compressed format ? like .gif or .png or .jpg ?

Probably it's not possible yet.

Check another similar request Extract multipage TIFF to other format than BMP (and add your request there maybe...)
