I need thumbnails in browser not to use the alpha channel. I turn on: "ignore Alpha channel" in ""options>General>Operations"" but it only fixes the viewer window.
Also I've read that there's an "use transparent index" option under ""options>View>View"" but it DOES NOT appear in my options window though I am using the 1.98.2 version.
Any idea where this option can be?
Any idea how to turn the thumbnails transparency off?
possibly usefull information:
1- I have recently updated DirectX and had a very old Xnview version installed, then icons started showing transparency.
2- Next I updated to Xnview 1.98.2 (without previously uninstalling older version) but still cannot hide thumbnails transparency.
(I've restarted my computer after both operations)
Thank you in advance.

Re: "Use transparent index" option missing
Thank you but in my XNview under the "view" menu there's not that option: "use transparent index"
the list of items under the menu "view" is:
-view as>
-sort by>
-filter by>
-collumns>
-Layout>
-Thumbnails size>
-Preview>
-stop animation
-Tags>
-rating and color labels>
-set categories...
-------------------------
-show files in subfolder
-Rebuild thumbnails
-Refresh Ctrl+R
-Stop Esc
------------------------
-Tabs
-Toolbars
-Small Toolbar
-Tree pane>
-Preview pane>
-Status bar
And not a single item else.
And rebuilding thumbnails does not help removing the transparency.

Re: "Use transparent index" option missing
XnView has two modes: Browser and Viewer.bagheerah wrote:Thank you but in my XNview under the "view" menu there's not that option: "use transparent index"
The Use transparent index (<= 8bits) setting can be found in the View menu in Viewer mode.
Ignore alpha channel seems to apply to Viewer mode onlybagheerah wrote:And rebuilding thumbnails does not help removing the transparency.

Have you experimented with the parameters in Tools » Options... » General » Read/Write » Read » PNG?

Re: "Use transparent index" option missing
Solved, the only problem I had was to find an image that would allow to unfreeze the option in the View menu. There should be an option under option to disable thumbnails alpha though. Would be helpfull, hope you include it in future versions.
Thanks a lot.
