Windows icons are multi-page files, which means they can contain more than one image. XnView lets you browse these images with the Previous page/Next page command.

For further information on how to navigate through multi-page/multi-frame files go to Topic #7791.

:) Hello ! Welcome aboard !
…and the icons are in black and white …
• I guess you mean that the background is always black, don't you ?

• This occurs for icons having a transparent BG and a workaround has been implemented
in the new 1.90.2 version, you might give it a try…
- However, all *.ico files will be shown as 32-BPP colour-depth in the status-bar, info-texts etc.,
that indeed is not right, it's a subsidiary issue not fixed yet (and which seems hard to fix up…).

- There is a pretty bunch of threads about this, you might use the Search:wink:

 Kind regards,
Claude

It's a known issue: XnView doesn't display .PNG with transparency correctly.

  1. Go to Tools » Options... » Gerneral » Read/Write » Read » PNG » Parameters and de-activate both Compose image with transparency and Compose image with alpha (32bits).
  2. Go to Tools » Options... » View » View and activate the checkbox for Use transparent index (<=8bits) or alpha channel.
