PNGOUT additionally rersorts/messes-up the palette (???) and optimizes the Deflate compression, but it doesn't brute-force throug...

OUT of memory -> 0x0 pixel - undo data

When editing a large image with XN, it happens that the image simply disappears, and XN saves it as a 0 pixel by 0 pixel file. The original file is lost. Most likely this is due to running out of memory. If you cut several small pieces from the big image (doesn't need extra memory - except for undo)...

Re: XnView installation fails can't register dll)

"Xbmf.dll"

1. Make sure the existing XN version is NOT running.
2. Make sure no other program blocks this file (virii/antivirii)
3. Delete the old installation manually directory "XnView" or "PlugIns" at least
4. Use the ZIP

Re: Suddenly, cannot open TIF/TIFF files - why not?

Delete "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.tiff" and "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.tif" in REGEDIT and reboot. Tested on ME only.

"-half_res"

Should be fixed now since NC 6.50 / XN 2.10 :

http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.p ... 85#p115480

(not yet tested)

Code: Select all

-half_res : Load half resolution (Camera RAW)
"-high_res" is gone :-)

Bundling PNGOUT with XN is legally problematic. Solution (but needs work): include PNGZopfli code into LIB + NC + XN :-)

I never had this problem, but there is a splendid solution: download the ZIP http://www.xnview.com/en/xnview/#downloads

Re: DICOM BUG ($88,$0200) preview

could you send me samples? Unfortunately the "samples" are highly private and sensitive and thus not redistributable ... but I had already investigated the BUG finding out that the element ($88,$0200) is source of the problem. Also, I have for now no easy way to sufficiently anonymize the samples o...

Re: Rotate image - loss of quality, bigger size

When I rotate an image, the size is by about 4x as large, i.e. a 1.25MB image increases to about 5.5MB 1. Used "ordinary rotate" and resaved, rather than lossless JPG rotate ? 2. JPG ? > How come? Expected effect. The new JPG was saved with a higher quality setting than the original (bad idea). > T...

Please upload the original Corpus Delicti in PNG format. Let me guess that it has more than 1 black colour?

Re: Unable to update to XnView 2.04

> That error means "Access denied"

possible reasons:

1. XNVIEW is running
2. file has the "R" attribute set
3. old or new file is blocked by some stupid process (so-called antii-virii ... :-D)

BTW, you can download the ZIP and manually replace just this ONE file ;-)

Pick preview instead of main image

Idea: Add an option to NC and XN to pick the stored preview image instead of the main one (JPG, DICOM, ...). DICOM BUG ($88,$0200) preview

Problems with DICOM in NC 6.17 (there is no latest, and most of it affects XNview too): - If DICOM file contains a preview image (element ($88,$0200) SQ), NC takes only this one, instead of the main image. I can "fix" it by "patching away" the "evil" element. Solution: skip this element when searchi...

Re: Windows 95/98/NT/2000

Do you use one of this OS? YES VC 6 is very old now YES If i use VS 2008-2012, the build can't be used on 9 Probably true ... but what's the point of VS >= 2008 ? Correct me if I'm wrong, but AFAIK the newer VS's / MSVC's cause nothing except trouble (bloat, dependencies of strange DLL's, ...). Wha...
