1.7.2 - archive - issues with temp files

XnViewMP 1.7.2
Windows11 (23H2), display resolution 3840x2160, dpi scale 150%

Browser/Viewer - archive

to reproduce:
0. prerequisites
  • extract files from attached archive into new folder
    test_files_archive.zip
  • open this new folder in Browser
  • open windows temp folder in file explorer

Issue A1
1. double click on CBR or CBZ file (eg 1_cbr_green_zip.cbz) to enter inside
2. select any file inside and press F3 or F4
- temp subfolder will be created in win temp folder
- 0 size file will be created inside
- external app will not be able to load 0 size file, showing error message

expected behavior
create files with correct size
also unify path for temp files creation (w/ or w/o subfolder), eg maybe create temp subfolder per session


Issue A2
1. double click on CBR or CBZ file (eg 1_cbr_green_zip.cbz) to enter inside
2. double click on image inside to open it in Viewer
3. press F3 or F4
nothing happens
expected behavior
open image in associated viewer/editor (the same way a new unsaved image behaves)


Issue A3
1. double click on 6_test_arch.zip to enter inside
no file is selected, but xnview_temp_GwUuVx.mp3 will be created in win temp folder
2. select test_arch.mp3 in Browser
Info panel > Properties > Image will show: Note to developer : you must create an object before
3. double click on open test_arch.mp3 to open
File can't be loaded! error will appear
4. drag&drop .mp3 from Browser into external video/audio player (vlc, potplyer, etc)
new temp subfolder will be created with 0 size file (issue A1)
error will appear
vlc wrote:Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'file:///C:/temp/XnViewMP-GtKXnb/test_arch.mp3'. Check the log for details.


Issue B
1. select any .CBZ or .CBR file
temp thumbnail files (xnview_temp_hAsH.extension) will be created in win temp folder for each CBR/CBZ file:
- if ☑ Catalog - once
- if ☐ Catalog - on each folder visit
2. close Browser tab / exit app
temp files are still there and not deleted
expected behavior
all temporary files must be deleted after closing app (or Browser tab)
Note: temp subfolders are deleted correctly when closing app


Issue C - looks fixed
1. double click on CBZ file (eg 2_cbz_green_folder_zip.cbz) to enter inside
folder thumbnail depends:
- if ☑ Catalog - thumbnail is incorrect
- if ☐ Catalog - thumbnail is correct
