Settings - metadata
managing metadata is not clear enough
Note1: Edit XMP/IPTC dialogs' functionality do not depend on Settings>Metadata and not reviewed here.
Note2: splitting Companion files/Sidecars settings into 2 tabs is a bit odd, since Sidecars is a subset of Companion files. However, I'm not sure if/how they should be combined yet.
Suggestion
- add high level read/write options for metadata
on high level - what to do
on low level (at individual tabs) - how to do
- existing Metadata tab
- rename tab → IPTS & XMP
- Sidecar tab
- move 'Create/Update XMP Sidecar' to new tab
- move 'Update master file' to new tab (split to 2 checkboxes?)
- existing Metadata tab
- add Read order
since there are multiple sources to read, explicit order could be useful
- maybe add some message that there are some conflict data between different sources
Example
- Adobe Bridge, CameraRAW, Lightroom
- digiKam, CaptureOne
